Myrtle Beach Real Estate – Home Inspections

Friday, November 28th, 2008

Whether you’re buying or selling property, an inspection provides peace of mind as you make purchasing decisions. According to a recent study by the American Society of Home Inspectors and the National Association of Realtors, 8 out of 10 homebuyers order a home inspection as part of contract negotiations. They understand that having as much information as possible can reduce initial moving stress and provide direction on future maintenance plans.

Myrtle Beach Real Estate – FHA/VA Applications on Increase

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Government-insured loans — primarily those backed by the Federal Housing Administration — accounted for about one in three mortgage applications in October, the Mortgage Bankers Association reported.

That’s a dramatic rise from one in 10 applications a year ago, the MBA said, and the biggest share of applications for FHA, VA and other government-insured loans since February 1991. The MBA cited lower down-payment requirements and less strict underwriting standards for the loans as reasons for their popularity.

Myrtle beach South Strand – “Political Satire”

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

           ‘If you don’t read the newspaper you are uninformed;

If you do read the newspaper you  are misinformed’

            -Mark Twain

         Suppose you were an idiot.

Now suppose you were a member of Congress….

         But then I repeat myself.

             -Mark Twain

I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is  like a man standing in a bucket and  trying to lift himself up by the handle.

-Winston Churchill

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul -

can always depend on the support of Paul.

- George Bernard Shaw

A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man

which debt he proposes to pay off with your money.

 -G. Gordon Liddy

Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.

 -James Bovard,
Civil Libertarian (1994)

Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer of money from poor people in rich countries
to rich people in poor countries.

 -Douglas Casey,

Giving money and power to the government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

 -P.J. O’Rourke ,
Civil Libertarian

Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.

 -Frederic Bastiat, French Economist (1801-1850)

Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases:
If it moves, tax it.
If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

 -Ronald Reagan (1986)

I don’t make jokes…  I just watch the government and report the facts.

  -Will Rogers

If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it’s free!

- P.J. O’Rourke

In general, the art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one party of the citizens to give to the other.

 -Voltaire (1764)

Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesn’t mean politics won’t take an interest in you!

-Pericles (430 B.C.)

No man’s life, liberty, or property is safe
while the legislature is in session.

-Mark Twain (1866 )

Talk is cheap…
except when Congress does it.

     -Unknown

The government is like a baby’s alimentary canal;

a happy appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.

-Ronald Reagan

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings.
The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.

 -Winston Churchill

The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.

-Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903)

There is no distinctly Native American criminal class …
save Congress.

  -Mark Twain

What this country needs are more unemployed politicians.

-Edward Langley, Artist (1928 – 1995)

- AND THE BEST ONE.

A government big enough to give you everything you want,

is strong enough to take everything you have.

-Thomas Jefferson

Myrtle Beach Real Estate – “To Sell or Not To Sell?”

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

I Want To Sell, Should I or Shouldn’t I!

This is something that I hear all the time at civic clubs, social functions and just about anyplace that has a gathering of people. The fact is, I hear it so much I decided to give you my thoughts on e subject.

In some way or the other, every family and every home is different in many ways. It’s these situations that need to be considered when you and your family begin to discuss a move.

In some cases people really have no choice, mandatory job moves, family situations, health reasons just to name a few. It’s these types of personal situations that leave very few options and one of them being, not to realize the type of monetary gain that you have hoped for. Let me emphasize, “Monetary gain you had hoped for”.  I mentioned this for a very important reason. I’ve found over the years that a great many sellers (me included at times) forget that “what I need has absolutely nothing to do with VALUE.

I’ve always lived my life on honesty and integrity and these two things have never failed me either in business or personal life. I will personally guarantee you that if these or questions you’ve been a pondering (just hada thow my redneck lingo in one) I will sit down with you and go over every detail of your planned move and assist you in acquiring a satisfactory  answer to every question you might have. I’ll professionally assist you to determine a fair price for you home that you alone can live with.

I’ll go that extra mile for you even to the point of helping you choose an agent to help you at your final destination. Yes, I want your business, but I want sellable properties and will walk away in circumstances where chances of success seem doubtful. (overpriced properties) CALL ME TODAY!

Murrells Inlet Real Estate – Honoring Our Hometown Heroes This Veterans Day in Murrells Inlet SC

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Honoring Our Hometown Heroes This Veterans Day in Murrells Inlet SCVeterans Day originally began as a way to honor the soldiers of World War I. Although the war officially ended in June of 1919 (with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles) President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th as Armistice Day. The reason? The fighting between the Allies and Germany had been temporarily suspended – by the “armistice” or “truce” – on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. “Armistice Day” became Veterans Day in 1954 as a way to honor all living American soldiers.

Myrtle Beach Real Estate – Open House Preparation

Thursday, November 13th, 2008
How To Prepare for an Open House….

Tip: Print out this checklist, and mark each item off as you get your house ready to sell.
· Use “home wash” (a hose attachment that is available at any home improvement store) to clean the outside of the house.
· Clean rain gutters as well as outside windows and screens.
· Make sure the front door is inviting. Paint it if needed. Also, replace any outdated outdoor lighting fixtures.
· Buy new house numbers if the old ones are dated or faded. Be sure buyers can see the new ones from the curb.
· Buy a new Welcome mat.
· Eliminate half of your belongings — clutter can cost in a sale. Rent a storage unit or portable pod for extraneous pieces of furniture or knickknacks. Another idea is to ask a friend if you can borrow some space in his or her garage.
· Organize all closets and drawers. Buyers might look there.
· Make any necessary repairs so that buyers don’t have to add that to their list of expenses.
· Rearrange furniture to make rooms appear as large as possible.
· Make every surface shine, from ceiling fans to baseboards. Don’t forget interior windows, mirrors, and floors.
· Scrub every inch of the kitchen and bathrooms.
· Depersonalize each room, removing photo frames and posters or artwork.
· Buy new linens and pillows if necessary. Be certain they are a neutral color.
· Buy air neutralizer and spray it often.
· Let go emotionally of your home, and get ready for an offer!

Myrtle Beach Real Estate – Time for law challenge to go to court

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Great article for all homeowners to read. This article was written by David Berkes and appeared on MyrtleBeachOnline.com

From the first editorials that appeared in The Sun News in September 2007, it is glaringly obvious that the S.C. tax-reform laws of 2006 have not been labeled for their true intent, discriminatory tax legislation.

The S.C. Constitution requires that all state and local taxes apply uniformly and equally to all taxpayers. It is difficult to believe that all county property owners see this alleged fairness when they look at the effects resulting from the point-of-sale reassessment law, which includes the differences between taxes on owner-occupied homes and second homes, additional tax rebates to owner-occupied homes from the [legislatively mandated] 1 percent sales tax increase of July 1, 2007, and the absence of millage adjustment in the process.

Pawleys Island Real Estate – “Arrogantly Shabby”

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Welcome to the South Strands Pawleys Island, “Arrogantly Shabby”

Pawleys Island, South Carolina, located 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 south of Myrtle Beach, is known as one of the oldest summer resorts on the east coast.

The families of rice planters who owned plantations on the nearby Waccamaw River first settled Pawleys island in the early 1700’s. The planters knew it was unhealthy for their families to remain on the rivers during the summer and that the seashore was much healthier. Even though they didn’t know about malaria in those days, they did know to get away! They moved their families, horses, cows, bedding, provisions and furniture to Pawleys in may of each year where they remained until the first frost in November.

From the leisurely existance has developed the charm of Pawleys that still exists today. Also, still remaining are the 12 residences in the historic district, which date from the late 1700’s to the mid 1800’s. Pawleys continues to be known for its shoeless carefree, laid-back life style, which includes crabbing in the adjacent creeks, fishing, the stories of ghosts, the rope hammocks and the unspoiled, unsophisticated, casual, delightful stretch of wide beach and sand dunes.

Pawleys Island Homes

The opportunity existing in Pawleys for homes of every possible style is endless. Available are traditional, low country, raised beach homes, condos and townhomes in every price range. In recent years the new construction and developement of many new sub-divisions have made this area one of the prime locations in the “South Strand”.Take the opportunity to investigate this charming serene location.

With some of the finest golf courses available, if living on a golf course is one of your goals, then you really have a tremendous selection.
